Patch 4.2: Rage of the Firelands

Dear players,

in just two days, on Wednesday, March 20th, the Rage of the Firelands is coming to Athena with the patch 4.2!

Soon, the portals to the elemental plane of fire open, and the brave heroes of Azeroth will finally have a chance to put an end to the fiery terror of Ragnaros himself!

The launch of the new patch’s content will proceed in two steps:

  • At 8:30 AM server time, the server will be restarted with 4.2 content and the relevant conversions applied, but the raid will be closed.
  • At 7 PM server time, Firelands will open!

What shall come with the Rage of the Firelands?

  • To make the the legendary Firelands raid challenging even for the hardcore raiders, we have decided to set the damage reductions of the 10-man Heroic difficulty to 32.5 % for the first week. After the first week, it will be set to 30 % as usual.
  • You will have the opportunity to do a quest line leading to the Molten Front, a sub-zone of the Firelands. To address the concerns many of you may have, we confirm that Molten Front will be a strictly PvE zone. No PvP combat will be possible, so that both the Alliance and the Horde will be able to progress peacefully throughout the zone.
  • If there aren’t enough things to do already, casters will be able to get the legendary staff Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest! We are also happy to inform that the loot required for this staff will be shared, as was suggested to us. To balance this change, the Eternal Embers will have drop chance lowered to 50 % for both HC and normal difficulty.
  • PvP season 9 will end, and after one week, season 10 (Ruthless) will be activated, and all existing Conquest Points will be converted to Honor Points. All point exceeding the 4000 Honor Point point cap will be converted into gold at a rate of 35 silver per point. Applicable season 9 items will cost Honor Points.
  • The winners of the current PvP season will be announced during the evaluation week.
  • At the start of the next PvP season, Occu’thar will appear as a boss in Baradin Hold.
  • All PvP currency Satchels, obtained from the 3v3 event, will be deleted when the new PvP season starts.
  • All existing Valor Points will be converted to Justice Points. Any Justice Points above the cap will be converted into gold at a rate of 47 silver per point. Applicable tier 11 items will cost Justice Points.
  • Until a few weeks after the RFs are taken, the split ID system will not be in effect for any raids, so the 10-man and 25-man IDs will be shared again.
  • If you have completed Aessina’s Miracle, you will have Guardians of Hyjal: Firelands Invasion! available to directly start with the new quests. Otherwise you will start with Guardians of Hyjal: Call of the Ancients, which will guide you through the missing quests.
  • Like with the T11 content, the new T12 content will also have various reductions applied to compensate for the 4.3.4 talents and make the new content a worthy challenge.

See you in the Firelands!
