International Cataclysm – launch, name and schedule

Dear players,

In today’s article we want to provide answers to the enormous amount of questions you have raised after we announced the launch of our new international Cataclysm realm along with the subsequent upgrade to the Mists of Pandaria expansion.

The first thing that had to be decided was the name of the new realm. Internal discussions and two rounds of voting among team members led to the elimination of all suggestions except for one.

The new international Cataclysm realm will be called

Hades

This new realm will also have its separate webpage and Facebook page, which will be launched soon.

The most important information and also the question you have been asking most is the date of the launch. It is always very tricky to settle on a specific day. However, we do not want to keep you in suspense as it would not have any purpose. Quite the opposite – our aim is to grant every and each one of you enough time to get ready for this major event.

The date was chosen with regard to how we want to run this realm. At the moment, we think it is the right time to try to create a realm that will be unique on the free WoW scene. It is a great opportunity, and since we have all the Cataclysm content ready (except the final one, which will be finished soon) we want to take advantage of it. So, what are we talking about?

Those of you who are familiar with the history of the Cataclysm expansion know that it was launched almost seven years ago. We are going to take you back to 2010 and Cataclysm beginnings and launch the CLONE OF THE OFFICIAL CATACLYSM SERVERS, meaning the date of the launch and subsequent releasing of all the expansion’s content, world events etc. will be taking place just as it was on the official servers.

The launch of our Cataclysm clone is scheduled for the day when patch 4.0.3 was released on the official servers, i.e.

16 November 2017

Now that we know the day of the launch, we can announce another important dates concerning releasong Cataclysm content:

16 November 2017realm launch

7 December 2017patch 4.0.6 (BWD, BoT, ToTFW, Baradin Hold – Argaloth, Vicious PvP)

26 April 2018patch 4.1 (Zul’Aman and Zul’Gurub)

28 June 2018patch 4.2 (Firelands + Molten Front, Baradin Hold – Occu’thar, Ruthless PvP)

29 November 2018patch 4.3 (Dragon Soul, End Time, Well of Eternity, Hour of Twilight, Baradin Hold – Alizabal, Cataclysmic PVP)

Of course, there are lot of things that could thwart our plans. We do hope, however, that we can overcome all obstacles and the aforementioned schedule will be met.

And what is the current situation? Right now, we are doing our best to get ready for the launch. Core developers are working on the first Cataclysm instances: We are simultaneously fine-tuning Bastion of Twilight (two bosses done), Blackwing Descent (two bosses done) and five-man dungeons (first of them done). Throne of the Four Winds is next in line. Database developers are currently working on Deepholm and some minor adjustments in Hyjal and Twilight Highlands. In addition, we are also dealing with changes that come with different Cataclysm patches – vendors, item drop etc.

From now until the November launch, we will do our best to fix as many bugs as possible in instances, mechanisms and other gameplay elements. After that, we will focus again on finishing the 4.3 content.

And then? It is not too hard to guess: while players will be enjoying adventures on the new international Cataclysm realm, our developers will be working on the Mists of Pandaria expansion…
